Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Her coverage included a variety of important stories like the Iran-contra affair, the budget and tax reform, as well as the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively together with the president Reagan during summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
